Sibshops at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is one of the most respected children's hospitals in the world.  Pioneers in providing family-center services, CHOP (as the hospital is sometimes called) has been offering Sibshops since 1992, under the most capable leadership of Lenore Stern:

I've been the coordinator of the Sibshop Program at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for about 15 years.  The Child Life facilitators areCHOP Sibshop photo fantastic and it is one of my most gratifying projects.  It is a joy to see some of the children who come in looking as if they have been dragged in with a cane leave excited and with huge smiles on their faces.  This is a program where friendships have been made and where kids learn that they are not alone.  The parents have been so appreciative!  In addition to the families we help, we've had opportunities to educate our developmental pediatric fellows, psychology and social work interns, PT, OT and speech therapists about keeping siblings in the equation of providing family-centered care.  It's also been great to see the growth of new Sibshops in surrounding communities.

Thanks, Don, you've been a great inspiration!
