Why Support the Sibling Support Project?

There are a million good reasons to financially support the Sibling Support Project.  In fact, there are seven million good reasons.  That’s because most of the seven million US citizens with disabilities have at least one typically developing brother or sister.

Siblings' relationships with their brothers and sisters with disabilities will outlast just about everything.  They'll outlast political administrations and service providers.  They'll even outlast their parents' relationships with their sibs.  The sibling relationship gives new meaning to "being there for the long haul."

As kids, brothers and sisters advocate for their sibs with special needs.  And they'll still be advocating when their parents no longer can.  It will be sibs will assure that their brothers and sisters will lead dignified lives as adults.  Supporting sibs is an investment in the future.

The Sibling Support Project is the United States' pioneering national project dedicated to the life-long concerns of sibs.  We help local communities start their own Sibshops.  We connect young, teen, and adult sibs at workshops, conferences and online.  And we educate service providers and parents about siblings' unique joys and concerns.  (Click here to see just a few of our accomplishments!)
