Support the Sibling Support Project

Why Support the Sibling Support Project?

There are millions of good reasons to financially support the Sibling Support Project.  In fact, there are seven million good reasons.  That’s because almost all of the seven million US citizens with disabilities have at least one typically developing brother or sister.

Siblings' relationships with their brothers and sisters with disabilities will outlast just about everything.  They'll outlast political administrations and service providers.  They'll even outlast their parents' relationships with their sibs.  The sibling relationship gives new meaning to "being there for the long haul."

The Sibling Support Project is the United States' pioneering national project dedicated to the life-long concerns of sibs.  We help local communities start their own Sibshops.  We connect young, teen, and adult sibs at workshops, conferences and online.  And we educate service providers and parents about siblings' unique joys and concerns.

We passionately believe that by giving sibs the support, information, and tools they need everyone benefits: typically-developing sibs,  parents, taxpayers, service providers, and especially the family member who has a disability.

All during April, we’ll be celebrating National Siblings Day (April 10th).  Help us celebrate by supporting the Sibling Support Project – and, in particular, Sibshops!

Your donation to the National Siblings Day fundraiser will help the Sibling Support Project:

  • Translate Sibshop materials into Spanish and other languages;
  • Develop new Sibshop activities for younger (5-7) and older (13+) siblings;
  • Upgrade the Sibling Support Project’s website to feature an online resource center of Sibshop games and activities, and a search tool to locate community-based Sibshops;
  • Assess the impact of Sibshops on all family members; and
  • Strengthen our outreach efforts to include grandparents.

Brothers and sisters are an incredibly deserving population. Can we count on you to invest in the future of families with your generous gift?
